Chocolate Bees for the Village 9pc
Chocolate Bees for the Village 9pc Each salted caramel chocolate bee seems to be adored by just about everyone that happens to be lucky enough to receive one as a gift (just check out the reviews below). Not chewy like a store bought caramel, our bee chocolates have a liquid caramel center and a clear, caramelized honey taste. This unique flavor comes naturally from the fragrant basswood honey we use, supplied by the Draper Family Apiaries in Millerton, PA. Once filled, each of the nine bees is carefully painted by hand with a paper-thin layer of yellow and black cocoa butter. Guaranteed to please the palate just as much as the eye. 20% of sales from this item will go directly to the Village of Arts and Humanities to support their mission. $29.00
SPOTLIGHT ON OUR HONEY
John and Kira first sourced their honey from Trickett Honey & Beekeeping, a West Philadelphia company. Trickett keeps a few colonies of bees in the city at community gardens to provide pollination services while most of his hives are located in the Valley Forge area. Since Trickett Honey is such a small company, it is difficult for them to supply all the honey that we need for our chocolates. When we need more honey than they can supply, we call Draper Apiaries. The Draper family started their aviary in 1974 with one hive. Today, Bernie's son, Bill, and grandson Royal have increased bee-hive colony numbers to around 1,000-producing annually from 60,000 to 110,000 pounds of honey. Their claim to fame is that they are the suppliers of honey to the White House. The Draper Family is active in their local community. They sponser a drug awareness program and also help to promote tourism in rural Tioga County, PA.
